Ricky Rubio
Ricard "Ricky" Rubio Vives (born October 21, 1990 in El Masnou, Catalonia, Spain) is a Spanish professional basketball player with Regal FC Barcelona. Rubio became the youngest player ever to play in the Spanish ACB League on October 15, 2005, at age 14. On June 25, 2009, he was drafted with the fifth pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, making him the first player born in the 1990s to be drafted by the NBA. The Timberwolves had an agreement in principle with his former Spanish team, DKV Joventut, to buy out his contract, but Rubio backed out of the deal. On August 31, 2009, Joventut traded the rights to Rubio to FC Barcelona, and Rubio signed a six-year contract with FC Barcelona the following day.
Rubio is not going to the NBA any time soon. So, to me, this is 'old news.' Anyway, I'll say it again: Ricky Rubio is not going to leave sunny, beautiful and warm Barcelona, his home town, where he is the supreme star on a supreme team, to freeze his Joneses off in icy, sleety, snowy Minnesota, to play on a crappy team, unless the Gods of Basketball know something I don't know. Even if the team improves, the last time I saw Minneapolis in January, there was one yard of snow on the ground and I don't think Rubio exactly loves snow.
What if the Minnesota Timberwolves, who obviously don't pay attention to the weather, were to sell his rights to another team? Like the NY Knicks or LA Lakers? Well, you can also freeze your Joneses off in NY
